Dean, College of Health Sciences, University of Technology, Jamaica

Dr. Ellen Grizzle is a researcher, behavior change communication specialist and registered pharmacist with over 30 years experience in the public and private sectors of the pharmaceutical industry. She served as the Dean of the College of Health Sciences, University of Technology (UTech) 2011-2016 and is currently the University’s Focal point on Herbal-Cannabis enterprise and lead researcher on two ongoing projects-Projects Livity and a Substance Abuse Study. She spent several years in the private sector and re-entered the public sector as Director of Information and Research at the National Council of Drug Abuse in 1999.

Dr. Grizzle is a well-known health writer and drug abuse prevention specialist. In 2012, she received the Institute of Jamaica’s 2012 Bronze Musgrave Award for contribution to Science. She currently manages several grants as part of her service and research portfolio at UTech. She was team leader on the UTech Cares project.

Dr. Grizzle still lectures first year pharmacy students on the History of Pharmacy in the Caribbean.

She holds undergraduate degrees in Pharmacy and Communications from UTech and UWI respectively; a Masters degree in Public Policy and Management (University of London) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Communication with specialization in Health. Dean Grizzle is a certified mentor, coach and faculty member in the Caribbean Health Care Leadership project located at UWI.
