Researcher, Caribbean Policy Research Institute (CAPRI)
Shanike Smart is currently a Research Officer at the Caribbean Policy Research Institute (CAPRI). She is also a part time lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus, where she lecturers in the fields of statistics and finance. Shanike holds a MSc. (distinction) in Economics from the University of the West Indies and a BSc. in Production and Operations Management from the University of Technology. She leads a non-profit development group – the Coalition of Professionals for Change (CPFC), whose activities are centered on the professional development of its members and the advancement of society through research, public engagement, and voluntary service.
Shanike is currently the lead researcher on the Diaspora Project at CAPRI where she is currently undertaking work to empirically determine the economic value (current and potential) of the Jamaican diaspora and to recommend strategies to successfully engage the diaspora to realize the potential identified.
