The Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Foreign Trade announces that His Excellency Stephen Vasciannie, Ambassador of Jamaica to the United States of America (USA) and Permanent Representative to the Organisation of American States (OAS), will demit office at the end of his three-year contract on 17th July, 2015.
• The Ministry notes the news reports of early release of a Jamaican national incarcerated in Qatar. Nevertheless, the Ministry can confirm that up to today, 9th July 2015 the Jamaican national remained in custody. • The Ministry understands that there is provision in the Qatari legal system for the remission of three months sentence for each year to be served.
