Ambassador Roberto Azevêdo, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), will pay an official visit to Jamaica, 17th–19th January 2016, at the invitation of the Government of Jamaica. Ambassador Azevêdo's visit to Jamaica is part of an initiative to visit a number of CARICOM countries, particularly those countries which have been active participants in the overall work programme of the WTO. His visit is taking place just weeks after the conclusion of the 10th Session of the WTO Ministerial Conference (MC10), which was convened 15th–19th December 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Nicholson, QC, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, received Copy Letters of Credence from His Excellency, Dr. Chun Beeho, non-resident Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Korea to Jamaica, today (Tuesday, October 13) at the Ministry's head office in New Kingston.
The Second India – Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministerial Meeting was held in New York on September 30, 2015 in the margins of the 70th session of the UNGA. The Minister of External Affairs, Ms. Sushma Swaraj, led the Indian delegation and the Hon. Alva Baptiste, Minister External Affairs, Trade and Civil Aviation of Saint Lucia, led the CARICOM delegation. The meeting was attended by all CARICOM Member countries. It was recalled that the inaugural meeting of the Joint Commission between India and the CARICOM took place in June 2015 in Georgetown, Guyana, at the level of Vice-Ministers. These two meetings, convened within a short time span of less than six months, underscore the importance both sides accord to India-CARICOM relations.
