The High Commission of Jamaica in Port of Spain hosted a reception to commemorate the 53rd anniversary of Jamaica's Independence on Thursday, August 6, 2015. His Excellency, Mr. David Prendergast, Jamaica's High Commissioner in Port of Spain, extended a Jamaican welcome to the attendees, which included Hon. Winston Dookeran, Trinidad & Tobago's Minister of Foreign Affairs, other Cabinet members, Opposition representatives and members of the Jamaican community in Trinidad & Tobago.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) is aware of the arrests of the three women who were found working as security officers without the relevant work permits in the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago recently. The Jamaican High Commission in that country yesterday (Thursday, August 20) ascertained their whereabouts and will visit the Immigration Detention Centre(IDC) where the women are now housed.
Senator the Honourable Arnold J. Nicholson, QC, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, is pleased to announce the appointment of His Excellency Ralph Thomas as Jamaica's new Ambassador to Washington DC. Ambassador Thomas is currently Jamaica's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, a post he has held since 2013.
