The stage is set for Jamaica to host the Thirty-Ninth (39th) Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) from July 4-6 in Montego Bay, St. James.

The 15 member grouping will also welcome its newest member, the Prime Minister of Barbados, Honourable Mia Mottley, who was elected to office following the country’s May 24 General Elections. Prime Minister Mottley is the first ever woman to head a Government in Barbados.

Mottley is expected to participate in key agenda items such as crime and violence, disaster management and climate change, and the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).

On Tuesday, July 3, Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith met with Mottley in a courtesy call at Jamaica House, where she was formally welcomed to the island.
