The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, through its network of High Commissions, Embassies, Consulates General and Honorary Consuls worldwide, provides a wide range of consular services to Jamaican and foreign nationals. They include the following:
- Review and transmission of applications for first time, renewal and replacement passports to Jamaica;
- Review and transmission of applications for Jamaican citizenship by descent, marriage, registration, renunciation and restoration;
- Issuance of Emergency Certificates (ECs) for urgent travel;
- Processing and issuance of visas and other relevant documents to foreigners visiting Jamaica;
- Authentication and legalization of documents;
- Processing requests for Letters of No Objection and Certificates of No Impediment to Marriage;
- Processing of travel documents for Jamaican nationals under deportation orders;
- Protection of the welfare of incarcerated nationals;
- Safeguarding the interests of Jamaican minors and nationals, particularly in matters of guardianship and trusteeship (estate matters);
- Provision of information and guidance to Returning Residents.
