Emergency Assistance while Travelling Abroad. The Ministry, through our Embassies, High Commissions, consulate-general and consulates can assist you if you, your relatives or friends experience emergencies abroad due to natural disaster, civil unrest, outbreak of war and incidents of such nature.

Passport and Citizenship Applications (including Renunciation and Restoration  of Jamaican Citizenship). This is done through our Embassies, High Commissions, Consulates-General and Consulates.

Notarial Services. This involves witnessing your signature on documents pertaining to land title,  contracts, wills, affidavits, statutory declarations and other documents for use in Jamaica under Jamaican laws

Enforcement of Child Maintenance Orders against Delinquent Parents.  In cases where one parent lives abroad assistance can be given with enforcing maintenance orders filed in the Jamaican Family Court. If the parent seeking support lives in Jamaica the order can also be enforced if filed in a court  abroad

Safeguard the rights of Jamaicans overseas  who are in  vulnerable situations . The Ministry acts in instances where there are minors in state institutions abroad due to custody related matters, adoptions, allegations of abuse, etcetera, or persons who are mentally incapable  or persons who are victims of abductions and  human trafficking

Arrests, detentions and inceration (imprisonment) abroad. In the unfortunate event that  you or your relatives or friends  get arrested or detained whilst travelling abroad, the Ministry, through its Embassies, High Commissions, Consulates-General or consulates can provide assistance

Persons facing Deportation (Involuntary Returned Migrants – IRMs). Jamaicans facing deportation normally have certain legal rights allowed them by the countries from which they are being returned. The Ministry ensures that these rights are protected

Death, severe injury or critical illness while travelling abroad. In the unfortunate event  of a death or injury or illness requiring hospitalisation while travelling abroad, assistance can be granted on a case by case basis.

Students Facing Hardships and Destitute National. From time to time students may receive limited forms of assistance if facing hardships while studying abroad. So too, other Jamaican nationals deemed to be destitute may receive such assistance, subject to certain conditionalities being met.
