KINGSTON, Jamaica: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, will lead Jamaica’s delegation to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), where Jamaica will join international partners in advancing cooperation on development financing, peace and security, climate resilience and reform of the multilateral system, while deepening partnerships that support national and regional goals.

Jamaica Welcomes UK Visa Application Fee Waiver for Jamaican Appellants Appearing Before the Privy Council

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican appellants whose matters come before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC), as well as counsel appearing on their behalf, will now benefit from a new arrangement for Commonwealth countries under which visa application fees for travel to the United Kingdom (UK) in connection with proceedings before the Court, are waived. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, has welcomed the measure as a practical step in facilitating access to justice for Jamaicans whose matters reach the Privy Council.

Johnson Smith to Promote Jamaica at 26th Investment and Trade Fair in China

KINGSTON, Jamaica: Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, will represent Jamaica at the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade, to be held from September 8 to 11 in Xiamen, China. This year’s staging will bring together hundreds of high-level representatives from governments, businesses, financial institutions and investment promotion agencies, with a focus on international investment cooperation, cross-border promotion and business match-making.

Jamaica Supports Ghana-Led Declaration on Enslavement of Africans as the Gravest Crime Against Humanity

Jamaica is pleased to be among the 123 countries who supported the adoption of a United Nations Resolution endorsing the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans and Racialized Chattel Enslavement of Africans as the Gravest Crime Against Humanity, an effort led by the Republic of Ghana. The resolution was adopted today (March 25) as the global community commemorates the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade. In welcoming the resolution’s adoption, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith says Jamaica’s support reflects both its longstanding engagement in multilateral efforts to confront the legacy of chattel slavery and its historical ties to West Africa.

Johnson Smith to Lead Engagements with Foreign Envoys During Diplomatic Days 2026

Foreign Minister Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith will this week convene the Ministry’s Diplomatic Days 2026, geared toward engaging members of the resident and non-resident diplomatic corps. Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to Jamaica will have the opportunity to join senior Government officials during a three-day programme of activities aimed at advancing cooperation, expanding economic opportunities and strengthening climate resilience, particularly as Jamaica rebuilds from widespread damage inflicted by Hurricane Melissa last year.
