Mr. Leslie Roy Campbell

Former State Minister

Mr. Leslie Roy Campbell, former Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and former Member of Parliament, dedicated his professional and political life to national development and the advancement of the Jamaican people. A highly respected attorney-at-law and public servant, he served in several important capacities, including Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation (2020) and State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (2020 – 2022).

During his tenure with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, where he had responsibility for Diaspora Affairs, Mr. Campbell played a leading role in strengthening Jamaica’s engagement with Jamaicans overseas, advancing the National Diaspora Policy, and supporting the work of the Global Jamaica Diaspora Council (GJDC), and the Global Jamaica Diaspora Youth Council (GJDYC).

Mr. Campbell sought to deepen engagement with the Jamaican Diaspora through technology, and was instrumental in the virtual staging of the Diaspora Sustainability Symposium and the Jamaica 60 Diaspora Conference which were held in 2021 and 2022, respectively. He also represented the Ministry at the regional level in the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and served as Sherpa for the UN High-level Panel for Sustainable Ocean Economy.
