Bulletin #2
The Government of Jamaica continues to encourage its nationals visiting or residing in the United States, to pay careful attention to the immigration rules of the country, and to note the information on ongoing developments, which is shared from time to time.

As we continue to monitor developments in the United States regarding the strengthening of border security, impacting nationals, we also note that while the number of Jamaicans deported from the United States has not increased significantly in recent times, we have been advised that there is likely to be an increase in the number of flights scheduled to return nationals eligible for involuntary repatriation. This is intended to address persons already in detention and willing to return.

  • Please be reminded that if you have concerns about your circumstances, you should seek legal advice from a reputable attorney. If you wish to look beyond the suggestions provided here, you should try to get relevant information from trusted members of the Community. As always, we also encourage nationals to operate within the provisions of the law to avoid situations that may lead to arrest, detention and deportation.
  • We continue to urge nationals to avoid unlawfully entering or remaining in the country, especially placing themselves in dangerous situations that may lead to imprisonment, fines or deportations. Remember that the laws have changed and there are even greater risks of deportation than before.
  • Where provisions are made that may be beneficial to nationals seeking financial assistance to facilitate voluntary return, you should ensure that you receive credible information, such as may be available through the following www.dhs.gov/cbphome

Please feel free to contact the nearest diplomatic or consular mission of the Government of Jamaica located in the United States.
