Mexico And Jamaica Convene Joint Commission Meeting for Scientific and Technical Cooperation

On September 24th, 2019, the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of Mexico and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica convened the Joint Commission Meeting for Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Mexico and Jamaica by videoconference, to formalize the projects that will comprise the III Scientific and Technical Cooperation Programme between both countries.

The meeting included the participation of Jamaican institutions such as The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) and the National Land Agency (NLA) as well as representatives from their collaborating Mexican agencies, the National Institute for Forestry, Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Research (INIFAP) and the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) respectively.

The III Scientific and Technical Cooperation Programme between Mexico and Jamaica will be implemented during the biennium 2020-2021 and includes nine projects across the following areas: agriculture (4), geography (2), food (2) and security (1).

By agreeing on the programme, the two delegations demonstrated a firm commitment to the mutually beneficial programme which has been in place, for more than twenty years and epitomises the strengths of the bilateral collaboration between Mexico and Jamaica.

The Embassy of Mexico extends its appreciation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica for its efforts to ensure the successful execution of the meeting, as well as to the various Jamaican agencies that participated and will be undertaking projects within the framework of the Programme.
