Minister Johnson Smith highlights Jamaica-France Cooperation Initiatives at Touch of France Opening ceremony

Caption: In her remarks at the Touch of France Opening Ceremony at the AC Mariott Hotel on Friday, November 11, Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Sen. The Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith noted that over the 60 years of Jamaica/France Diplomatic Relations, cooperation initiatives have mainly been in the education, investment, culture, infrastructural development and health sectors. She shared that there are currently 6 Jamaicans in French schools as English Language assistants.

The Minister also welcomed the increasing number of French companies in the island, noting that their presence is “indispensable in promoting economic growth and job creation.”

Minister Johnson Smith also shared that earlier this year, the French Government donated over 600,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines to boost Jamaica’s pandemic response efforts.
