Notice of Closure of Missions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade would like to announce the recent closure of our following Missions overseas:

  • The Embassy of Jamaica in Caracas, Venezuela – with effect from April 1, 2019
  • The Embassy of Jamaica, Kuwait City, Kuwait – with effect from June 15, 2019

Persons affected by these closures should contact the Consular Affairs Dept. at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade at consularassistant@mfaft.gov.jm, telephone: 876-926-4220 Ext 3346 or the nearest Jamaican Embassy/High Commission/Consulate.

In the case of Kuwait, reference is to be made to the Jamaican High Commission, London for consular assistance at:  Jamhigh@jhcuk.com.  Please also refer to the Ministry’s website for the list of Jamaican Overseas Missions.

 

New Honorary Consular Appointments

Jamaica has recently appointed Mrs. Terrel Butler, Attorney-at-Law, as Honorary Consul for Jamaica in Nassau, Bahamas.

Overseas Travel – Visa Waivers

Jamaicans who wish to travel to the following countries no longer require a visa to do so.

  • Russia: No visa required for periods of up to 90 days for tourism, business or cultural exchanges with effect from November 1, 2018
  • Namibia: No visa required for periods of up to 90 days per calendar year with effect from August 2018
  • Ghana: No visa required with effect from July 2019.
