Fellow Jamaicans,
We stand in solidarity with you during this difficult period as we collectively grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic. Our hearts and prayers go out to those amongst us who have lost loved ones, as well as those who are now infected. As Jamaicans, we are imbued with an indomitable spirit no matter the challenges. We implore all of you to look after each other now more than ever and even beyond this unimaginable crisis.
The Government of Jamaica, for its part, has taken proactive measures to stem the spread of COVID-19. It is our sincere hope that these will continue to be successful. We are extremely proud of our Health Sector workers and Security Forces and all those on the frontline who have demonstrated their unwavering commitment and dedication in this battle.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, with the support of its Missions overseas, is collaborating with the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport and the Ministry of Health and Wellness in hosting the COVID-19 Telethon, themed Together We Stand, on Easter Sunday, 12th April 2020, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
We encourage you to join fellow Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica across the globe as we offer hope and inspiration to each other via this medium, while seeking to raise funds to purchase much needed Personal Protective Equipment and other vital supplies for frontline workers in this fight against COVID-19.
The attached flyer details the event and we ask that you share it as widely as possible amongst your family, friends and networks.
Together we stand!
