Dominican Republic celebrates 179th Anniversary of Independence

Caption: “The people of the Dominican Republic have much to celebrate… We note the commendable annual growth of 6.1%, and that in 2019, the ` was on track to realise its ambition of achieving high-income status by 2030. The Dominican Republic, however, was not to be excluded from those nations severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In that regard, Jamaica wishes to commend the Dominican Government for its swift and decisive response in alleviating the socio-economic impacts of this global health crisis on its citizens, while, in addition, it still managed to find the space to assist its neighbours and friends, notably Jamaica.” –Sen. the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith at the 179th Anniversary of the Independence of the Dominican Republic at the Ambassador’s official residence on Wednesday, February 22
