Jamaica’s Foreign Minister with responsibility for Diaspora Affairs, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith will travel to Florida and New York next week to officially launch the Jamaica 55 Diaspora Conference on Monday, April 24 and Tuesday, April 25 respectively.
The launches will take place at the Miramar City Hall in Miami, Florida and the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York.
The Minister revealed plans for the launches at a press briefing yesterday (Thursday, April 20), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
Speaking on the Conference, Minister Johnson Smith told journalists, “We are excited about the fact that hundreds of Jamaicans are coming home to share in our vision and renewed energy around the re-development of Kingston, and recognizing it as the great capital city that it is.”
The Jamaica 55 Diaspora Conference, which will return to downtown, Kingston for the first time in 9 years, will be convened from July 23-26 at the Jamaica Conference Centre.
