FOREIGN MINISTRY OFFICIALLY WELCOMES ALANDO TERRELONGE AS MINISTER OF STATE

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade is pleased to welcome the Honourable Alando Terrelonge as the new Minister of State. Minister Terrelonge’s appointment brings a new energy and valuable expertise to the Ministry, following his successful tenure as State Minister in the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sport.

 Foreign Minister Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith extended a warm welcome to Minister Terrelonge, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Alando Terrelonge to our team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. His skill sets and dedication to public service will undoubtedly add great value to our work in support of national development.”

She explained that Minister Terrelonge’s new role at the Foreign Ministry will include a significant focus on working with the Jamaican Diaspora, recognizing their invaluable contributions, addressing their concerns and optimizing the new Global Councils.

Minister Terrelonge expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “I am honoured to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and work alongside Minister Johnson Smith and the dedicated team. It is a moment that I have looked forward to throughout my career as an attorney and politician. It is truly an honour to serve my nation and people of Jamaica in this capacity.”

Minister Johnson Smith said, “His expertise in working with the Jamaican Diaspora and his experience in public service will be of great value as we enhance our engagement with Jamaicans living overseas. We are committed to harnessing the immense potential and support of the Diaspora in driving Jamaica’s development and progress, and Minister Terrelonge will drive that effort.”

She continued to advise “Among other matters, he will support the Economic Diplomacy Programme which we implement in conjunction with JAMPRO and give oversight to the expansion of our Honorary Consular network.”  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade looks forward to a productive collaboration with Minister Terrelonge.
