Jamaica receives sculpture “Enduring Friendship” from South Korea to mark 60th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the countries

Caption: The Government of Jamaica has received a gift of a sculpture titled “Enduring Friendship” from the Republic of Korea to mark the 60 years of diplomatic relations this year.

Sen. the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Foreign Affairs Minister noted that the gift is a fitting testimony to the strength of the relationship and the dynamism of the cooperation between the two countries.

In expressing appreciation for this gift, the Minister acknowledged the Charge D’ Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Baejin Lim and his team for what she describes as “their vision and unswerving commitment to preserving Jamaica/Korea relations.” She also lauded Ms. Lisa Lindo, Jamaican Artist and Sculptor for her work of art.

Mr. Baejin Lim says that “this symbiotic representation of Korea and Jamaica’s friendship will be maintained and will remain relevant for years to come. Both Korea and Jamaica have witnessed fruitful outcomes in our bilateral cooperation. This is a reminder of our collective strengths.”

The sculpture was unveiled during a handing-over ceremony at the Ministry’s headquarters in Downtown Kingston on Thursday, October 20.
