Jamaica’s Foreign Minister meets with the Secretary General of the United Nations

Caption: Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith and Secretary General of the United Nations, H.E. António Guterres at the UN HQ during High Level Week of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Minister assured him of Jamaica’s commitment to “a strong UN system at the heart of multilateralism that delivers.”

She also commended Mr. Gutteres for inspiring hope in spite of the challenges of the times. She noted that Jamaica is confident that crucial issues including those affecting the Small Island Developing States (SIDS), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), youth, women and financing for development will be kept high on the global agenda.
