Former Deputy Director of the Jamaica Tourist Board, Jason Keats Hall has been appointed to head Jamaica’s Mission in Mexico. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday, August 21.

The Ambassador-designate, whose appointment takes effect in September 2018, replaces Ambassador Sandra Grant-Griffiths, who has been reassigned to Kingston as the Chief of State Protocol.

Mr. Hall has served in both the public and private sectors for 26 years and has significant managerial experience in marketing, tourism, business development and public relations. His prior experience also includes management roles at Jamaica Freight and Shipping Company and JAMPRO (then Jamaica Trade and Invest) and most recently served as Vice-President of Marketing at Supreme Ventures Limited.

He has had extensive work and travel experience throughout the Caribbean, West and Southern Africa, Europe, China, North and South America. Mr. Hall is multilingual and counts Spanish, Portuguese and French among languages in which he is fluent.

Minister Johnson Smith welcomed his appointment which she says signals an opportunity to not only further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Jamaica and Mexico, but to expand our trade and investment opportunities. “I am pleased to announce Mr. Hall’s appointment as Ambassador-designate for Jamaica to Mexico. He has maintained a track record of commendable performance in both public and private sectors in areas of experience which are particularly relevant to Jamaica’s economic growth agenda, and I am assured that together with his commitment to public service, his abilities will continue to advance the relations between Jamaica and Mexico,” said Johnson Smith.

The Ambassador-designate holds a Master’s Degree in Marine Policy from the University of Wales. He also pursued studies at the United World College of South Africa, Swaziland and the Institute of Managing and
Planning in 1987 and 1994 respectively.
