Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ambassador Audrey Marks, as Ambassador-designate of Jamaica to the United States of America and Permanent Representative-designate to the Organisation of American States (OAS).
“Ambassador Marks brings to the post a wealth of experience in diplomacy, in business and in philanthropy. I am confident that she will continue to build upon the excellent relations we have enjoyed with our major trading and economic partner, and to which she has contributed immensely during a prior tour of duty in that jurisdiction” Minister Johnson Smith stated.
Ambassador Marks, who has had an active career in the private sector as the Founder and Chairman of Paymaster Jamaica, served a 2-year stint as Jamaica’s Ambassador to the USA in 2010.
The Ambassador has been the recipient of several accolades and citations, including the Florida International University Business Leader of the Year award in 2003 and 2010.
Ambassador Marks has shared the benefit of her entrepreneurial experience through membership on several boards, including those of Jamaica Trade and Invest (JTI/JAMPRO), the Urban Development Corporation and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).
In addition to Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Business Administration, earned at the University of the West Indies, Mona and Nova University in Florida, respectively, the Ambassador received a Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) from the Northern Caribbean University.
The St. Mary native, who is married, will assume her duties in the coming weeks.
