Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, is reminding Jamaicans to register at our Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates responsible for consular relations with countries to which they travel.
Her call comes in the wake of reports from overseas missions that no Jamaicans were injured during the recent shooting rampage in Munich, Germany, and also that the three-member Jamaican delegation that was in Istanbul Turkey during the attempted coup on Friday, July 15, had returned home safely.
“These most recent incidents – of terror and political disruption – are of great concern globally and to the peoples of the countries in which they occurred. They have also, however, reminded us in the Ministry that it is important to encourage Jamaicans who travel or who live in the Diaspora to register with the nearest Jamaican mission in the host country, so that we can more readily assist in emergency situations,” says the Minister.
The Ministry advises that information on the location of Jamaica’s missions overseas can be accessed at: https://www.facebook.com/mfaftja
