On Thursday, 11th October 2018, Ambassador-designate of Israel to Jamaica His Excellency Danny Biran Bayor presented Copy Letters of Credence to the Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, at the Ministry’s New Kingston offices.
Mr. Bayor is concurrently Israel’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, with residence in Santo Domingo. Alluding to his past experiences in areas prone to natural disasters, Mr. Bayor expressed his personal interest in providing assistance to the region where possible.
Minister Johnson Smith expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the Israeli Government over the years, particularly in the areas of water resource management and human resource development.
The Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith also indicated the interest of the Jamaican Government in broadening the scope for cooperation to include agriculture.
Mr. Bayor advised the Minister of potential ways in which the two countries could strengthen bilateral relations, during his tour of duty. The two dignitaries agreed that there was much room for innovative cooperation.
The State of Israel is one of the first countries with which Jamaica established diplomatic relations in 1962.
