State Minister presents Diaspora Award for Excellence to Karen Henry

Caption: Minister with responsibility for Diaspora Affairs, Senator the Honourable Leslie Campbell on Tuesday, September 27 presented an award to Karen Henry, one of four persons who were selected to receive an award at the first Diaspora Awards ceremony organized by the Jamaican Embassy in Brussels in July.

 

In lauding Ms. Henry, the State Minister said, “Ms. Henry, has for many years served the local and international community through facilitating effective communication by virtue her expertise in languages. She has been an active member of her community in Belgium and I am sure that her presence and work have created a positive impression of Jamaica.”

 

Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Sheila Sealy Monteith and Jamaican Ambassador to Belgium, Symoné Betton-Nayo as well as other members of staff were also in attendance.

The Diaspora Award for Excellence is an important event which is designed to recognize and honour Jamaicans in the Diaspora who have, through their various contributions, enriched the Jamaican Diaspora in Europe and contributed to Jamaica’s national development.
