State Minister receives Courtesy Call from Deputy Head of Mission of the US Embassy

Caption : State Minister, the Hon. Alando Terrelonge received a Courtesy from Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy, Ms. Amy Tachco Tuesday, July 11.

Discussions included strengthening relations between Jamaica and USA including, collaborating on diaspora engagement.

Minister Terrelonge noted the Government’s thrust to include the diaspora in trade and investment as well as sector development, reiterating that the diaspora’s contributions go beyond remittances.

As it relates to Jamaica’s development agenda, the Minister shared that Jamaica’s diaspora engagement mechanisms,

the Global Jamaica Diaspora Council and the Global Jamaica Diaspora Youth Council, include focal points within MDA’s to advance issues related to the Diaspora.

They also spoke about the situation in Haiti, among other matters.
