Foreign Minister to Attend 28th CARICOM Inter-Sessional Meeting in Guyana

Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade will represent the Prime Minister at the 28th Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community to be held in Georgetown, Guyana, February 16-17.

Senator Johnson Smith left the island this afternoon, accompanied by representatives from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The Inter-Sessional Meeting provides a forum for Heads of Government to engage in discussions on issues of importance to the region and develop strategies to address the social and economic challenges facing the Caribbean Community.

The meeting will address issues such as regional security, correspondent banking, tourism in the region, information and communication technologies for development and the CARICOM-Cuba trade agreement.

The Minister will return to the island on Saturday, February 18.
