Japan through UNICEF’s Emergency Grant Aid Donates Cold Chain Storage Equipment to Jamaica

Caption: “For a second time this year, Jamaica is receiving a special donation of Cold Chain Equipment (CCE) and supplies—a refrigerator, two refrigerated Land Cruiser vehicles, and igloos—as part of efforts by the Government of Japan to ensure that countries like ours are sufficiently resourced to advance COVID-19 vaccination programmes.” Sen. The Hon. Leslie Campbell at the handover of COVID-19 CCE by Japanese Ambassador to Jamaica, H.E.  Masaya Fujiwara on December 6, at the National Chess Hospital.

 

In his address at the handover ceremony Ambassador Fujiwara noted that grant funding to the tune of USD1.2 Million was allotted to Jamaica to purchase CCE. He also shared that “cold storage capacity is also critical for implementing the usual immunization programme, such as vaccination to prevent measles.”
