Johnson Smith meets Head of US Interagency Working Group on the multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission for Haiti

Caption:  During a working visit to the United States with Prime Minister Holness, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade engaged in bilateral talks with Ambassador Elizabeth Richard, Head of the US Interagency Working Group on the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission for Haiti.

In October, the United Nations Security Council authorised the deployment of an international security force to help the Haitian National Police to dismantle criminal gangs, quell violence and secure critical infrastructure.

Jamaica continues to lend its support to the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group as it works with the Haitian government and other stakeholders like the US, towards a Haitian-owned solution to the political and governance crisis that has gripped the nation.
