Johnson Smith participates in Ministerial Round Table for the High Level Political Forum

Caption 8:  Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith says that “accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires strengthening the knowledge and capacities of all stakeholders to effectively implement actions that have multipler effects.”

 

Referencing this year’s Voluntary National Review (VNR), the Minister added that further focus on governance, social protection, financial innovation and digital disruption as key accelerators which, through responsive policy, legislation and programming have the potential to spur growth.

The Minister also noted the importance of partnerships in strengthening recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and pursuing the SDGs.

 

Johnson Smith was speaking at a Ministerial Round Table for the High Level Political Forum: “Accelerating achievement of the SDGs by 2030: addressing ongoing crises and overcoming challenges,” held today (July 14) during the High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York.
