United States (US) Ambassador to Jamaica, H.E. Nick Perry today (May 25) paid a Courtesy Call on Foreign Minister, Sen. the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith at the Ministry’s downtown, waterfront headquarters. Having agreed that the US-Jamaica Bilateral Relations in security and various other development issues, are strong, the dignitaries identified areas for continued cooperation.

Minister Johnson Smith noted the significance of the return of the Peace Corps, this year, “the same year in which Jamaica & the US celebrate our 60th year of diplomatic relations.” She also shared that the US was one of the first three countries to recognise Jamaica as an (independent) country.

Fun Fact: Over its 60 years in Jamaica, the Peace Corps has been deeply involved in youth engagement and rural programme implementation.
