High Level International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) delegation in Jamaica

Caption: The Honourable Alando Terrelonge, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, received a Courtesy Call on Thursday (Dec 7), from members of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), who visited the island.

The International Hydrographic Organization is an intergovernmental organisation that works to ensure all the world’s seas, oceans and navigable waters are surveyed and charted.

Minister Terrelonge underscored the country’s commitment to preserving and protecting its coastal areas and waters, which he notes play major economic roles for Jamaicans in the tourism and fishing industries.

Meanwhile, the IHO’s delegation highlighted how the organisation could support Jamaica’s efforts to protect its marine environment as it seeks to grow its Blue Economy.
