ANTONIA HUGH IS THE NEW AMBASSADOR TO CHINA

 

Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, announces the appointment of Mr. Antonia Hugh as Ambassador of Jamaica to China.

The Ambassador-designate who assumes duty in early January, is an international consultant in business and property development in Hong Kong, and also a consultant in energy and petroleum in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. Mr. Hugh has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of the West Indies and a first degree in the same field, from Brigham Young University in the United States (US).

“With roots both in China and here and a sound international business background, I am confident that Mr. Hugh will break new ground in the Jamaica-China relationship, and cement even further, our bilateral cooperation, as both countries work toward mutual development,” asserts Minister Johnson Smith.

The International Energy Consultant has been: Director, Rayton Group Limited (Jamaica); Non-Executive Director, AMG packaging and Paper Ltd. (Jamaica); Director, Tesbury Development Limited (Hong Kong) and Director, Base Sarl (Madagasdcar).

He is also a member of the: Jamaica Chinese Benevolent Association; the Chinese Manufacturer’s Associations of Hong Kong; the Rotary Club International; and the Shaanxi Overseas Friendship Association (in China).

Mr. Hugh is married, has two children and is keenly interested in golf, badminton, the arts and photography.
