Courtesy Call on Minister Johnson Smith by Miss Jamaica World, Shanique Singh
Shanique Singh will be representing Jamaica at the 71st staging of the Miss World 2024 Pageant, which will be held in New Delhi, India.
Minister Johnson Smith congratulated Ms. Singh and wished her success in the competition.
During the Courtesy Call, Singh discussed her “Period Positivity” project, aimed at empowering women facing challenges with menstrual cycles and combating period poverty in Jamaica. The Minister lauded the initiative and highlighted the government’s efforts, in collaboration with the private sector, to eradicate period poverty among young Jamaican girls.
They also discussed the rich cultural ties and strong bilateral relationship between Jamaica and India.
