Jamaica joins France in celebrating Bastille Day

Caption: On July 14, France commemorated its 234th Anniversary of Bastille Day.

 

Foreign Affairs Minister, Sen. the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith & State Minister, the Hon. Alando Terrelonge attended a reception hosted in honour of this momentous occasion.

In her toast, Johnson Smith noted that France & Jamaica have explored and taken advantage of opportunities to advance their over 60 years of partnership.

She highlighted tangible outcomes particularly, the growing collaboration in areas including agriculture, health, tourism & investment as well as the promotion of the French language in Jamaica.

The Minister noted that people to people exchange and French investments have also been a hallmark of the France-Jamaica partnership. She also welcomed, the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in the field of sport.

Johnson Smith further lauded France’s role as a steadfast proponent of environmental sustainability, noting that, they have been key to regional and multilateral efforts on the issue of climate change.
