Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) getting closer to completing negotiations for a Post-Cotonou Partnership with the EU,

With the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) getting closer to completing negotiations for a Post-Cotonou Partnership with the EU, Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith has congratuled the Organisation for the progress achieved notwithstanding the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Minister, who was attending the virtual Extraordinary Session of the Bureau and Council on Tuesday, .July 28, expressed confidence that “the Agreement, when completed, will inure to the benefit of a more mature partnership between the OACPS and the EU, as well as within and across OACPS countries and regions.” She expressed appreciation for the efforts made to respond to the unexpected challenges posed by the pandemic, including the hosting of important meetings by virtual means.

Johnson Smith congratulated the negotiators for their dedication and hard work as well as her colleague Ministers, other OACPS Ministers,  Secretary-General and staff of the OACPS, who have made efforts to continue essential services.
