Following on its release issued on August 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade wishes to update the public on the latest assistance efforts underway for Jamaicans affected by Hurricane Harvey as the Consulate General in Miami, continues to monitor the welfare of Jamaicans in Houston, Texas and their surrounding environs.

According to the Consulate General, there is no indication, to date, that any Jamaican national has died in the disaster.
It further advises that the Jamaican Foundation of Houston has launched an appeal for cash donations, which can be made via their website at www.jamaicafoundationofhouston.org.

The Ministry empathizes with all residents of Texas affected by this terrible disaster, and in particular fellow Jamaicans resident there.
