The People’s Republic of China gifts Jamaica state of the art technology

Caption :  On this day, 51 years ago, Jamaica led the way as the first English-speaking Caribbean nation to establish diplomatic ties with the People’s Republic of China. Today, after more than a half a century of friendship, cooperation, and shared growth, the Government of China generously donated state-of-the-art technology to bolster Jamaica’s capacity to effectively secure its borders.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith says “Jamaica’s bonds with China have been forged on shared values, mutual respect and trust. China, over the years, has proven to be a steadfast partner, sharing its expertise and supporting us in our national development efforts in a range of areas including healthcare, education and infrastructure”.

The Minister was speaking at this afternoon’s handing over ceremony, which was held in Kingston Hall at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Downtown Kingston.
