Johnson Smith engages in bilateral discussions with Nigeria’s Foreign Minister

Caption: Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister, Sen. the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith and her delegation this morning (August 2) engaged in bilateral discussions with Nigerian Foreign Minister, His Excellency Geoffrey Onyeama and his team, with a view to enhancing co-operation between the two countries.

 

The discussions included strengthening collaboration under the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps Programme, particularly in the health care and craft making sectors. The Jamaican delegation also expressed particular interest in partnering in the petroleum and energy sectors.

In the area of agriculture, the Jamaican delegation spoke about the need to improve the country’s food security through collaboration with Nigeria in areas such as fertilizer production. Other matters such as culture, transportation, and diaspora relations were also addressed.
