Johnson Smith joins Belgium in celebration of King’s Day

Caption: On November 23, Belgium celebrated its 156th Anniversary of King’s Day. Foreign Affairs Minister, Sen. the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith attended a reception hosted in honour of this occasion.

In lauding Belgium, the Minister shared, “I am particularly delighted that Belgium has remained a key development partner for Jamaica, contributing significantly to the modernization of our transportation sector, particularly through the supply of buses to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company and the construction of the Half-Way-Tree Transport Centre.”

The Minister also recognised Belgium’s support for the development of Jamaica’s human capital, through the provision of scholarships and training opportunities.

Additionally, she noted Jamaica’s eagerness to expand cooperation with Belgium in several sectors including logistics, culture, tourism, investment and education, to name a few.

Johnson Smith said Jamaica also looks forward to cooperation projects and investment activities at all levels in the years.

Foreign Minister, Sen. The Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, joined the Hon. Christine Hoebes, Minister in the Presidency of Namibia and the Hon. Itah Kandji-Murangi, Namibian Minister of Higher Education, on a tour of the National Gallery given by its Chief Curator, O’Neil Lawrence (August 2).
