Foreign Minister meets with UN Secretary General’s Special Representative on Violence Against Children

Caption: Sen. the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Foreign Affairs Minister, and Dr. Najat Maalla M’jid, UN Secretary General’s Special Representative on Violence Against Children met to discuss the purpose of her working visit to Jamaica on Tuesday, October 18.

This includes partnering to finding sustainable solutions to invest in resources effectively as well as elaborating for suitable legislation and policy with a view to shift social norms in an effort to reduce violence meted out against Jamaican children.

It was also noted that Jamaica has a Child Protection Development Framework from which to build upon in collaboration with the United Nations and other partners.
